Last week, I spoke with several solo professionals about organizing their frequently visited websites for quick access to save time.
Each of them has been in business for at least five years, so they are not newbies! I was surprised to learn that some had never used Chrome's Bookmarking feature. I shared how it boosts productivity and saves me time. If you haven't tried it yet, follow these simple steps to start organizing your bookmarks folders in Chrome today.
Bookmarking folders in Google Chrome is a great solution. It's one of my favorite tools for maintaining order online. I use it daily to save important links, group resources by project, and quickly access commonly used websites. If you're looking to streamline your browsing experience and "save time, dive in!"
There are different ways to bookmark folders, but the steps are generally similar and simple.
1. Open Chrome: Go to the website you want to bookmark.
2. Click the star icon: It is on the right side of the address bar.
3. Add Bookmark: Here you can nickname the website or leave as is. Next to folder, choose where you want the bookmarks to be saved or create a new folder.
4. Click Done to save.
If your bookmarks bar is not displayed on your screen, here's what you can do:
1. Open the Bookmarks manager by clicking the three dots in the top right corner.
2. Select bookmarks from the drop-down menu.
3. Click show bookmarks bar
You can also organize your bookmarks by dragging and dropping folders within the Bookmarks Manager, or add new bookmarks directly to a folder using the star icon.
How I Use Bookmark Folders in My Business to Save Time.
While working with multiple clients, each with their own website and resources that I need to access daily, I create a bookmark folder and give it a specific name. Each folder contains subfolders for individual clients, with bookmarks to websites related to their projects.
To begin working, I select the folder and right-click to open all the tabs needed for the project. For example: when creating newsletters, I create subfolders with the following bookmarks:
Email marketing platform, e.g., Mailchimp
Social media scheduling tool e.g., Buffer
Client's content calendar
Client's websites
Keeping my bookmarks in folders helps me stay organized and makes browsing more efficient. I can easily access relevant information without having to search or type.
